Let’s say, you are tired of doing work or school. You decided to unwind with your favorite shooting game. But when you’re playing, what you hear is just cursing. Instead of relaxing, you ended up getting angry and frustrated. Sadly a lot of these instances happen in online games nowadays, and one of them is the game Call of Duty: Warzone. It is time that we discuss the negative effects of playing Call of Duty: Warzone. What is Warzone? Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale video game released on March 10, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. In the game, players parachute into a map and have to eliminate each other and the last player standing will win. As more players are eliminated, the map shrinks, forcing the players into tighter spaces and up the challenge. The game gets a lot of praise for these maps, and currently there are over 100 million players in the game, including children. Offensive dialogues Despite the praises, in my opinion the nature of the game makes people toxic. Some of the in-game characters, called operators, curses a lot. You can see it from the transcript of one of the operators, Lucas, shown in the picture. This leads to players chatting in-game with a lot of curses too, and not just normal curses, but racial curses as well. This is bad because there’s a lot of children playing, and they copy them. Soon, they become impolite and racist. Addictive nature Not only cursing, warzone can be very addicting. The game has a system called Battle Pass, where they have 100 tiers of new digital content per season. To unlock the tiers, you can use real-life money by buying COD points, or keep playing the game. COD points can also be used to buy weapons, skins and other things in the game. They reward players very well too. This is bad because either you spend a lot of money for the game, or you’ll spend hours upon hours unlocking the content before the season ends, leading to addiction. As they say it: touch grass Finally, because of its addictive nature, playing Warzone will make you less sociable. Players often have eyesight problems, as well as fatigue due to lack of rest. Also, since they’re always online, they don’t know how to behave appropriately in real-life settings. They need to learn to socialize without cursing and act like normal people. Conclusion In conclusion, Call of Duty: Warzone is bad because of their curse words, addictive nature, and making the players less sociable. With these conditions, I believe you should be careful if you want to play Warzone–in fact, if you’re not mature enough, don’t play Warzone anymore. Instead, consider playing other less toxic, less addictive games.
